Abstract

The purpose of the study was to investigate the height of deformed and non-deformed skulls. The research material included 200 undeformed and 54 deformed skulls. The height of the skull was measured between the basion and bregma points. The study used the craniometric method and computed tomography method. The mean (M), median (Me), 25% and 75% percentiles (Percentile 25, Percentile 75) of the studied parameters were calculated. Analysis of the skull height (basion-bregma height) showed that the mean value on non-deformed skulls was 135.7 mm (Me - 135.0 mm, Q1, Persentile 25 - 131.0 mm, Q3, Persentile 75 - 140.0 mm), on deformed skulls 139.3 mm (Me – 140.0 mm, Q1, Persentile 25 – 135.0 mm, Q3, Persentile 75 – 145.0 mm). It was found that the difference between the data obtained for nondeformed and deformed skulls was statistically significant (PF=0.006; PU=0.001). The established general conceptual point of view about the influence of the deforming factor on the direction of skull growth suggests that the statistical difference between the basion-bregma height results of skulls with and without deformation aligns with this concept.
