The purpose of the study was to study the variants of morphology, morphometric indicators and age-related characteristics of the arteries of the normal human circle of Willis. The research material was brain preparations obtained from 12 human corpses taken from the morgue of the Department of Human Anatomy and Medical Terminology of the Azerbaijan Medical University. In addition, an analysis of angiograms made at the Medical Diagnostic Center “Medical center” was carried out. To prepare brain preparations, V.P.Vorobyov macromicroscopic dissection method was used. According to our data, the Circle of Willis has a polygonal shape. We have discovered two forms of arrangement of the Circle of Willis: Deep and superficial. The structure in which the circle of Willis is formed with the participation of all arteries was found in 11 of 12 materials studied. An incomplete open polygon was noted in one specimen. In another preparation, the right and left anterior cerebral arteries united to form one common anterior cerebral artery. Analysis of the angiograms showed that in one case the basilar artery was absent. In another case, two basilar and two vertebral arteries are observed. A study of the age-related dynamics of the Circle of Willis showed that in the fetus the anterior part of the circle is better developed than the posterior part. In a newborn, the vessels of the anterior and posterior parts of the circle of Willis are almost equally well developed.
